Seeking the Truth

On 4 August 2020, Beirut experienced the biggest non-nuclear explosion in recent memory. 213 people were killed, nearly 6,500 were injured and nearly 300,000 lost their homes. Hundreds of buildings and businesses were completely or partially destroyed. The entire population was traumatized.

The victims have a right to know the truth about what led to the events of 4 August 2020 and what happened on that day.

The Lebanese authorities have an obligation to conduct a thorough investigation.

If they fail to do so, the international community has an obligation to assist the victims in finding the truth.

Finding the truth is an issue of fundamental human rights of the victims and all others impacted by the Beirut Blast and not a matter to be used as part of any political or other agenda.
